Day 4 - Getting to know Lyon (part 1)

In the morning, we bid farewell to Givors, accompanied by the municipal councilor who had helped make our stay so welcoming. After expressing our gratitude, we boarded the train to Lyon, eager to continue our cultural journey.

Upon arriving in Lyon, we took some time to have lunch and then set off on a small adventure to explore the city. We visited several iconic locations, including Place de la République and Place Bellecour, which are both vibrant hubs of local life. Each stop gave us the opportunity to immerse ourselves further in French culture, observing the local lifestyle and architecture while practicing our language skills with the locals.

One of the more poignant moments of the day was visiting a memorial dedicated to the fighters of World War II. Standing before this memorial, we reflected on the shared histories of France and other nations, gaining a deeper appreciation for the struggles and sacrifices that shaped the world we live in today.

As the late afternoon set in, we took a break to enjoy some ice cream, soaking in the atmosphere of the city. This was also a perfect time to discuss our plans for the following day’s excursion to Vieux Lyon, a historic area known for its rich cultural heritage. We ended the day feeling both inspired by what we had seen and excited for the experiences that awaited us.
