Today, August 16th, we visited the organization “Amics de la Gent Gran” which was founded in 1987. This organization operates in Barcelona and other cities in Catalonia, and offers support to elderly people who live alone, providing companionship, social activities and assistance with their daily needs. “It currently accompanies around 2,743 elderly people and has 2,781 volunteers” The organization works to combat unwanted loneliness and social isolation, ensuring social inclusion. Some of the activities provided are: friendly calls, cultural events and traditions, meetings and outings, home meetings, among others.
In the afternoon, after lunch, we took the opportunity to visit La Boqueria Market, which is one of the best known and, finally, we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon on La Barcoleneta beach.
